I noticed a pattern in the dose of the things the other day that I’d never seen before. Am I late to the party? This is too good to be true.
The amount (volume) of ibuprofen to be given per dose can be calculated easily by dividing the child’s weight in kilograms by 2.
It works for acetaminophen, too.
10 kg child gets 5 ml.
20 kg child gets 10 ml.
5 kg child gets 2.5 ml.
Of course, I’m assuming we are talking about standard concentrations of these medications:
ibuprofen 100mg/5ml
acetaminophen 160mg/5ml
That’s it
