The Arkansas Department of Health has loosened their regulation on who qualifies for monoclonal antibodies as a treatment for COVID-19. They released an updated list of qualifications on July 19. I’ll list them here and add a link to download the entire document.
“Clinicians may now refer any adult or pediatric patient (age 12 years and older and > 40 kg) if they have a medical condition or other factor, including race/ethnicity, that puts them at higher risk for progressing to severe COVID-19 including:
- Older age (65 and above)
- Obesity (BMI>30)
- Diabetes
- Cardiovascular disease (including congenital heart disease) or hypertension
- Chronic lung diseases (i.g., COPD, moderate-to-severe asthma, interstitial lung disease, cystic fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension)
- An immunocompromising condition or immunosuppressive treatment
- Overweight (BMI 25-30) as the sole risk factor
- Chronic Kidney disease
- Pregnancy
- Sickle Cell disease
- Neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g., cerebral palsy) or other conditions that confer medical complexity
- Medial-related technological dependence (e.g., tracheostomy, gastrostomy, or positive pressure ventilation [not related to COVID-19])”
I’ll post these in the department as soon as I can.
